Having recently been told that I don't give enough advance notice for
meets I thought I'd better make this one official now.

August Bank holiday weekend will see yet another Ipswich (and environs)
afpmeet.

The plan is to start on the Saturday (29th August) with a visit to the
Sauna/Jacuzzi place in Colchester (2pm-6pm ish). Then spend the evening
in the Fat Cat pub in Ipswich.

Anyone who wants to can hang around for the Sunday (30th August) too,
which will involve an early visit to the Fat Cat, followed by a picnic
(with shopping stop en route) in Rendlesham Forrest, followed by a trip
to the Folk Night at the Butley Oyster (where singing and drinking will
happen, although probably not in that order).

Monday (31st August) will be available for recovering in.

We have enough floor space to cope with a fair number of afpers and I'm
sure that there are other local afpers who could accomodate a few more
folks if needed.

Please let me know if you'll be coming.

Carol

Okay folks's it's time for the Ipswich & environs afpmeet reminder plus
notification of the few changes that have cropped up...

The plan was to start on the Saturday (29th August) with a visit to the
Sauna/Jacuzzi place in Colchester (2pm-6pm ish). Then spend the evening
in the Fat Cat pub in Ipswich.

However, certain people seem to like the idea of a brewery tour - the
Tolly Cobbold brewery tour starts at Noon so this could be combined with
the sauna/jacuzzi trip or substituted for it. The tour takes about 90
minutes which would make it possible to get to the Saunas for 3pm and
still have a couple of drinks first.

This gives us the possibility of a Friday night start - which means that
now might be a good time to suggest the vodka bar down at the docks
(which also does beer - in fact it's a tolly pub so it's good practise
for the brewery tour)

Anyone who wants to can hang around for the Sunday (30th August) too,
which will involve an early visit to the Fat Cat, followed by a picnic
(with shopping stop en route) in Rendlesham Forrest, followed by a trip
to the Folk Night at the Butley Oyster (where singing and drinking will
happen, although probably not in that order).

Monday (31st August) will be available for recovering in - and could be
stretched to include a nice little jaunt down to felixstowe, where crazy
golf could be arranged as well a visit to the fine second hand bookshop
which I'm sure has it's links to lspace.

We have enough floor space to cope with a fair number of afpers and I'm
sure that there are other local afpers who could accomodate a few more
folks if needed.

Please let me know if you'll be coming and if so, when you'll be coming.
You are of course welcome to come along for as much or as little of the
weekend as you like.

Ok guys, this is your final reminder.....

Next weekend (bank holiday weekend) is the date of the next Ipswich
(and environs) afpmeet.

Anyone interested is welcome to join us from Friday night (we'll
either be home at Spring Roll or just up the road in the Fat Cat -
email me for full details) or at any stage over the weekend.

On saturday we shall attempt to prove that myself and the plumbing can
indeed organdise a piss-up in a brewery by taking all who are
interested on a guided tour of Tolly Cobbold - the tour starts at noon
from the Brewery Tap and is less than a fiver per person - it's a
victorian style tower brewery so be prepared for lots of stairs if you
decide to join us.

After that we will almost certainly need to drink some real ale. Next
the option is to drink more real ale or do something else (saunaing in
Colchester is a possibility if people bring swimwear and are so
inclined).

The evening sees the afp-meet 'proper' when we all wander off to the
Fat Cat to try yet more of the selection of 16 or so real ales
available (and real ciders too). Conversations will probably happen
too, and I fully expect a fair number of fines to be paid - hopefully
without being consumed this time :-)

When we've all had enough we will stop for the night and try sleeping
for a while instead (floor space is still available if anyone
wants....)

On sunday there is the option of joining the local pagan crowd for a
picnic in the woods (Rendlesham Forrest actually) or lazing around
drinking more beer and having more conversation or visiting Felixstowe
to check out the second hand book shop and possibly playing crazy
golf/table hockey/crocodile bonking. The evening however will almost
certainly see a treck out to Butley for the Folk Night at the Oyster;
singing along is almost compulsory although other talents can be
displayed if prefered (I usually opt for story-telling as I'm better
at that).

After this more sleep could happen. On Monday we can if so desired
cover any of the previously mentioned options that were not already
covered (except for the Folk Night cos that's only on Sundays)

If you want to know anymore email me (Carol@lspace.org) or the
plumbing (tap@lspace.org) or both if you're really keen, and we'll try
and sort out any queries...

Carol
