OK, I missed the last one, and now I'm feeling lonely, so I want lots of
people to come and see me!
Luckily, I have a number of good excuses for having another Yorkmeet:
1) Children in Need is happening that Friday - and I'm sure afpers would be
good at raising money for such a good cause...[1]
2) The film of Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone is out that Friday
too, and I want to go see it! And I'm sure quite a few others do too...[2]
So why not come and see it with me? Please... :-}
3) Oh, and it's my birthday on the Saturday too... But that's not important,
is it? :-}

So, if you fancy a nice meet in York (nice city), to do nice things for a
nice cause, watch a nice film and see lots of nice people, just send me a
nice email to my nice address: mp@bleurgh.net (or, for that matter, you
could use nice@bleurgh.net if you prefer[3]) and tell me things like if you
need crashspace (we have some... It is limited though, FIFS), when you'd
like to come (basically, Friday night to watch CiN, or Saturday to see film
and do pub thing - and we'll kick anyone left by Sunday afternoon out into
the cold!) and so on.
Further details will follow if you do... :-}

Hope to see you there!

MP

[1] Let's face it, we've got to be better than the "They think it's all
over" teams... :-}
[2] Admit it!
[3] It is valid, and mine...

OK, time for a "1-month-warning"...
There is going to be a meet happening in about a month's time,
ie. on the weekend encompassing the 16th, 17th and 18th of
November. This is happening for a number of reasons, and the
list of reasons keeps growing...

1. It's Children in Need weekend
2. It's "Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone" film
   release weekend
3. It's my birthday on the 17th
4. It's Andrew Gray's birthday on the 17th too
5. It's the 3000th of September on the 17th too
6. I wanted a Yorkmeet in the near future because I missed
   the last one
7. Because I said "let there be a meet" and others said "OK,
   put me down for being there..."

The basic plan is:
Friday evening: Watch CiN and do related things
Saturday morning: Go into York and pick up people, whilst
  doing touristy things, possibly railway museum? Jorvik?
  Depends what people have done/want to do.
Saturday lunch: Get food (possibly Lendal Fish Restaurant,
  since I like it...)
Sat Afternoon: Film
Sat evening: Head towards home and chat, stopping at pubs
  (inc. Victoria)
Sat night: Watch TV, play playstation, play pc, sleep
Sun morning: Wake up, wait for people to drift out after
  breakfast...

So, if you'd like to join the swelling ranks of afpers
who'll be in York that weekend (or, I suppose, if you
particularly want to move to York and join the rather large
group of us who are always here), let me know, and I'll add
your name, rank and number to my list of attendees.
You'll also need to let me know when you plan to arrive, and
I'm afraid all crashspace is now booked (if you've already
expressed interest in having some, you've got it,
basically...[1]).
More details will go out very soon, and you should have
heard something if you have already emailed me - if not,
please resend. My address is mp@bleurgh.net.

Hope to see even more people there,

MP

[1] I can go round to local[2] B&B's if people are really
desperate, or give you numbers for them. Let me know if you'd
like me to do this...
[2] Within about 5 minutes walk, in other words...
