Back from CCDE, caught up with some sleep now and the brain is feeling slightly less frazzled. And there's something I promised I'd do...

Sometime on friday night it was observed that there were conspicuously more gazebos present this year than last, prompting Supermouse to launch into an explanation of the life cycle of the gazebo (which she should be writing up for all to see at some point soon). Next morning a lone gazebo was mysteriously (not to mention briefly) found on the stage in the barn. This filk was inspired by the former event, and may go some way towards shedding light on the latter.

WALKING GAZEBOS
to the tune of... oh, you figure it out.

Once a jolly rodent a-camping near to Wetherden
Spun her a tale and she told it with glee
And her friends sang along as they gathered round the candle flame
You'll come a-walking gazebos with me

CHORUS:
Walking gazebos, Walking gazebos,
You'll come a-walking gazebos with me
And her friends sang along as they gathered round the candle flame [1]
You'll come a-walking gazebos with me

She told of the place where the wild gazebos make their home
A field full of tents known as CCDE
And they join in the dark, and silently they multiply
You'll come a-walking gazebos with me

By day they are still so humans never notice them
They may seem benign but there's no guarantee
For it's said those who learn the truth may nevermore be seen again
You'll come a-walking gazebos with me

Then up on the hillside they found a tethered specimen
Pegged at each leg just as cruel as can be
And the rodent declared "we have a job to do, my friends
Who'll come a-walking gazebos with me?"

One to each leg they pulled its moorings with a will
Until with a wrench the gazebo was free
And they watched as it ran to join its feral brethren
You'll come a-walking gazebos with me

But as they returned, the rodent noticed with a start
Where once there were four afpers, now there were three [2]
And they cried out in vain for their friend who'd vanished in the dark
You'll come a-walking gazebos with me

But on the morn upon the stage a-bathing in the spotlights' glare
The rescued gazebo was standing with glee
And nobody knows just how it got there - honest guv'
You'll come a-walking gazebos with me

[1] The third line of each chorus is a repetition of the third line of the preceding verse.
[2] If anyone has seen or heard from Eelco since friday night we'd be immensely reassured.
