Hi there,

You are currently reading the Usenet Newsgroup named alt.fan.pratchett.
We normally operate a "Welcome" system to new subscribers by sending
them the message below after their first posting to this group. However
this voluntary service is temporarily restricted by the Real Life
commitments of the regular operator. 

In order to help new posters and additionally any new lurkers (lurkers
being those who are reading the group prior to actually posting
anything) I am posting the regular "Welcome" message here on the group.
Note that normally you would receive this message once by private email,
and not several times as a public posting to the group.

If you are new to the web and to Usenet I would emphasise that
newsgroups are public discussion groups and anyone may see your posting
- quite different to private e-mail and e-mail lists.

where all the relevant FAQs will appear as newsgroup postings
