This directory stores sound files in WAV, RealAudio, and various Psion formats. Each format has its own directory, but not all files have been converted to each seperate format yet, sorry. The files are: bingely-bingely-beep - This is a *wonderful* sound clip of Terry doing the "bingely bingely beep" sound that Vimes' organizer makes in _Feet of Clay_. The 'wve' file is in Psion 3 format, the 's5' file in Psion 5. Sampled by Colm Buckley at the DWCon, cleaned up and uploaded by Kate Harris and Mike Knell. Sound files uploaded by Mark Walton (mark@frobozz.demon.co.uk). The sounds were recorded in mono at 11 KHz to minimize the file size. Even so, please note that some of the clips last nearly 30 seconds, and that the WAV versions of these files are therefore quite large. In order to cut down your download time, be sure to specify a correct compression-on-the-fly download method, i.e. say "get brains.wav.zip" or "get brains.wav.Z" instead of just "get brains.wav". The software will then automatically perform the compression for you (see also the file /pub/pratchett/README.COMPRESSION). books-1 - Thoughts on the difference between adult and children's fiction. brains - Comments about American film producers. curry - Tony Robinson (narrating the audio cassette version of "Mort") saying "I COULD MURDER A CURRY". democracy - Comments about the concept of democracy in Ankh Morpork. granny - Thoughts about Granny Weatherwax. internet - Thoughts about the Internet. librarian - Thoughts about the Librarian. men-at-arms-1 - Stephen Briggs and Trevor Collins in a short extract men-at-arms-2 from Stephens play "Men at Arms".
