At dawn of the third age of mankind I am following up to Mr Alien X. Xenomorph's post. The date is Wed, 31 Jul 96 06:56:28 GMT, the name of the place is alt.fan.pratchett:

It would be entirely feasible to have an afp diplomacy game - the one problem is that I don't have a copy of the board to refer to.

If you haven't played Dip, it's like risk but without the dice. One proceeds by making deals and alliances with neighbours - no one person is strong enough to do anything on their own at the start. You then write down what you're going to do - the orders are compared and a set of rules are applied to interpret them.

This is where you find out if you've been backstabbed.

The beauty of it is that you have to renege on some deals, but if you renege on too many deals then nobody will trust you and you'll be beaten.
