The British Army in Seville retreats to Gibraltar.

The Russian Army in the Volga retreats to Gorky.

The Russian Fleet in the Gulf of Bothnia retreats to St. Petersburg.

The Spanish fleet in Barcelona retreats to Andalusa.

The Turkish army in Ankara retreats to Armenia.

Ross opens with the enlightened comment:

Here's my retreats, didn't realise I'd need the bloody things.

<snip sniptype=see above>

There you go, I'm going off to swear in the toilet now.

Bloody Piers, I knew I shouldn't have trusted the scheming piece of primordial slime. Actually, there were more spelling mistakes than that and less capital letters. If you want MY opinion it seems that Piers has made an enemy here, (I'm *good* at spotting that sort of thing). One comment though, appreciate that in this game people are out for what they can get. If they can benefit from breaking an agreement then that agreement will bite the dust as surely as night follows day. Of course, some diplomats think they live in in the arctic circle and keep agreements going for six months longer than the agreement is profitable for them. This is called "being gullible". Anyway, it's about time Ross spotted that Piers had invaded....

When submitting his next set of orders, Mike wrote:

I am holding in Bar to consolidate my gains, the army in Navarra will allow me to take spain mainly by land, freeing(maybe) the med fleet for other duties( - watch this space) the move out of Marseille is to free up a coastal sc for the build phase - I may or may not build a fleet. Gib is obviously lost to the spaniard so the brit should go for portugal. If the Brit goes for portugal without support from MAO then he could lose Gib and fail to get Portugal. It depends whether Spain goes all out to attack Gib or tries to keep Portugal. It's a 50/50 guess thing, to Por or not to Por? That is the question (unless either Britain or Spain has reason to believe that Mikey will help one of them with Portugal).

Not QUITE what Suzi/Piers are expecting (they will expect MAC-GRE, and NAP to perhaps go west), but otherwise, they proposed that I take Greece and Istanbul both, so I'm not about to argue.

Builds will be an army in Venice and hopefully two fleets (if all goes well (ie: all my moves succede, none of my units are dislodged, Piers doesn't decide to walk into Croatia or Serbia), you can take that as an order for the adjustment phase). I hope to put armies into Serbia (from MAC) and Croatia (from VEN) in the following movement turn. Trusting anyone not to walk into your SCs is never a wholly wise idea...

As soon as Turkey is dead, Suzi will probably realise that she has only three possible targets: The Ukraine, Russia, or myself, and of these three, two of them will be extremely difficult to reach. I would expect that she'll try to ally with the Ukraine against me, so I have to hope that POland and/or Russia will create enough trouble for him that he can't devote many units (he already has three in Russian territory, which is good). Assuming I can keep Piers out of my hair, and assuming Hippie and Mike don't look my way, I should have a 4-2 fleet advantage (or 5-3, depending on how Libya is used), which should make things moderately easy for me. Of course, I'll only have two turns before she gets two more builds (Ada, Irn)...

(oh, and 11 units will make me the biggest, which often attracts undesirable attention)

Ross was a little less optimistic upon submitting orders:
God knows what any of this will help me, as noone has been much in contact with me.

I think they flee the rotting carcass to escape the carrion birds.
