Russia's orders for the spring seemed rather suicidal, this to my mind is not in the spirit of the game....

Ross explained his reasoning by saying that "basically, if i'm going to go out, i want to go out being a bastard to Piers". It seems that I was overoptimistic about Russia's longevity...

Where now?

Russia will be dead by the end of the year (assuming Egypt doesn't aid an attack upon Ankara) - as will Spain (at last).

Britain will be down to one SC, I'll guess that Britain will leave her continental unit intact, just to spite the German (though the northern unit may survive longer, it would be ultimately futile).

We then have the superpowers of France/Germany and Egypt/Ukraine squaring up to each other, once this happens Italy will be squished in between. By the way, I *do* like how matters have been arranged so that when dislodged, John can retreat to Alsace or Picardy to do damage behind the lines in association with Britain.

With her almost certain builds, we are also likely to see a Poland/Germany clash and Ukraine may like to team up with Poland rather than Egypt.

One thing is sure to my mind. Ukraine cannot afford to team up with Poland *and* Egypt for any great length of time, as this would mean that the Ukraine becomes stuck behind two increasingly powerful neighbours (assuming that their campaign goes well). Sooner or later the Ukraine would have to wage war on one of these neighbours (in association with France/Germany) or risk becoming a handy target for a few extra SCs for a superpower. I'm probably being paranoid though. It's been a lousy day.

The Italian army in Paris retreats to Alsace.

The Spanish fleet is disbanded, as Spain owns no SCs and any retreat cannot affect another power or gain an SC for Spain.

The Russian units are disbanded, as Russia owns no SCs and any retreat cannot affect another power or gain an SC for Russia.

For Spain and Russia the following tables will be as if a random retreat was made followed by a disband.

The following table summarises the changing SC situation - this is not always the same as the number of adjusts!

The following table summarises the changing situation, detailing the number of units currently owned, the number of SC's and the number of available adjustments, after the number of free SCs has been considered. A positive adjust number means that builds are due, a negative number means that units are to be removed. Note, builds do not have to be taken, they can be waived - please send a waive order to the GM if you wish to do this.

Also detailed are the number of SC's required to win (the win condition is 33 SC's).

Egypt builds armies in Alexandria and Aswan, also a fleet in Cairo.

France builds an Army in Bordeaux.

Italy disbands the fleets in the Gulf of Lyon, the Ligurian and the army in Rome.

Poland builds armies in Warsaw and Krakow.

Ukraine builds an Army in Odessa and a fleet in Sevastapol.

Russia writes the following end of game statement (typos uncorrected):

well it seems that i have finally bitten the dust in the lovely world of perdita. i must say that the majority of th last two turns has been a form of forced Euthenasia. i didn't mind, i could see my demise and thought it best to hasten things up so my enemies could get a chance to die.

i hoped to out last Britain and Spain, but Britain's still hanging in there and Spain died at the same time. *sigh* such is life.

there were a couple of points where i made fatal mistakes. The first was a missing lot of orders which i typed and sent from my SMUG account at UNi. (as GMs of mine will know my orders tend to come from a different addresss everyday.) I think if these orders had worked all would have been a lot better.

however i can not blame the demise of the greatest socialist state on a technical error. taht would be stupid. in fact my major error was simply stupidity. i trusted Piers. *sigh* never ever ever ever trust Piers. and if you have the chance to destroy him do just that. he is much too dangerous a player to let live. not that he isn't a nice bloke or anything. ;)

i wish the remaining Powers all the best in theconquer the world. especially Suzi as it would be nice for her to win her very first dip game. so be nice to her ;) although i don't wish Piers any good luck because he cheated me too many times. i really do think am too nice to play dip.

so, what else do i have to say? nothing of interest probably. i would like to point out that Perdita was my very first dip game and i enjoyed it immensely. cheers go to Murky for the trouble of GMing, especially my last batch of orders which i put both WMArthur and Perdita in the same one since there was only one line for each.

As i join the Turk in exile and plan a life of undisputed vodka swilling, i raise of toast to you remaining powers.

DA!, Ve hast Njetski Bananeski. (yes, i know, very very very dog russian)

The Final words of the General Secretary of all the Russias, (retired)

'True equality comes only when noone has anything.'

Suzi also related the following missive to me (between Germany and Egypt).

My dear Hair Hippie, you replied to my latest missive thusly:

> Indeed things do seem to be pottering along quite nicely for us
> both(always worrying)My concerns voiced in earlier mail do still
> figure quite highly amongst my generals,Namely that you and France
> appear to be heading for a premature war that is being orchestrated by
> the Ukranian.(Not that I have a problem with you having a war with
> France, just that I wouldnt want you to be forced into it unwillingly
> so to speak)

The French ambassadors and my own have been talking for some time now... I think we are both aware of the Ukrainian's intentions to try and divide and conquer. To prevent this being too much of a problem for you and I later on - I assure you that I have not dropped my guard against the Ukrainian!

> so there you are.I
