2002: The Year of the Hedgehog
It was 2002, and the Usenet newsgroup alt.fan.pratchett was 10 years
old. In order to celebrate this event, special afpmeets were held all through the year, all over the world.
- Afparty information
- The Afparty Planning Area
A schedule (with location maps) of known afparty events (including the DWCon 2002 Birthday Bash) and links to
individual afparty announcements, reports and photographs.
- Afparty Mailing List: The archives

- The AFPmeet FAQ

to the concept of afpmeets? The most important thing to know: everybody is welcome. Read the
FAQ for more basic info, and if you have more questions, please don't hesitate to contact us and ask.
- The Afparty Announcement
Karen/hypatia's original announcement to the Pratchett and science fiction newsgroups on
Usenet that got the ball rolling.
- Fun bits
- The Afp 10th Anniversary Hedgehogs
Bernard Pearson, aka the Cunning Artificer, created two exclusive afp hedgehog figurines, and was
cutting his own throat making them available to us for a mere pittance.
- The Hedgehog
Files and The Hedgehog Song
The (ASCII)
Hedgehog is the official Afparty Mascot, because of its long-standing symbiotic relationship with the
alt.fan.pratchett community.
- Afparty Buttons and Signatures
Various buttons, ASCII pictures, and slogans, made available for use on web pages to link to, or
refer to, the Afparty Pages.
- Afparty Filks
Party songs in the afp tradition.
The Afparty effort and web pages are coordinated by Karen/hypatia and Leo Breebaart,
who always welcome suggestions, questions and new afpmeet organisers and attenders.
