Anyone interested in a Hatfield House
(day) meet on July 17 ?

According to a flyer in my local library
Hatfield house is staging a 'Tudor Revel' on
July 17 with jousting, archery, falconry, jesters,
craft fair and so forth.

The event is from 11:00 am - 5:00 pm and
tickets are 6.50 ukp (or 5.50 for a party of 20 or
more)
(phone 01707 262823)

Hatfield house is in Hatfield UK about 20 mile north
of London, next to Hatfield Station on the
London-Cambridge line
(30 min from Kings X)
and just off the A1 London-Newcastle-Edinburgh trunk
road.

Anybody in the immediate area ;-) interested in
coordinating/announcing
this and suggesting post event
hostelries ?

I shall be in Cambridge on the weekend of the 18th July, and this
seemed as good excuse as any to hold an afpmeet there. (Or
alternatively, what better to do in Cambridge than have an afpmeet?)

If the weather permits, we'll be going punting; so we'll be meeting at
9 o'clock on the morning of Sunday the eighteenth at St John's College
Porter's Lodge. If it's forecast to bucket it down, substitute 8pm at
the Mill on Saturday evening.

Livia Mitson has kindly offered to provide a limited amount
of crashspace. She says to note that her house is a shoebox, so
presumably she's expecting afptenders to leave their shoes there and
themselves elsewhere. ;^)

Since this meet is not taking place at the Ancient Druids, the
official ASCII Mappe is useful. ;^b Should there be great demand for
one, I can provide a replacment.

                                mmfn,
                                  Roadrunner[0]

[I've had to do a little gentle reformatting here, and I've stripped
out the quoted-stinkable stuff. Please folks, if you are going to quote
prices, can you use UKP instead of the pound sign, it makes life so much
nicer for the poor moderators. --Tap]

Hatfield House Tudor Revel/Cambridge Punting afpmeet
Summary

Saturday July 17 and Sunday July 18

Since Roadrunner is visiting Cambridge over the aforementioned
weekend it is deemed afpropriate to have a afpmeet.

Michael has asked me to mention this may be a possible CCDE alternative
for those in the area who can't make it. Also he believes that a certain
film may be premiered around this time, which most participants are
unlikely to have seen.

The proposal is for three components afpers may of course pick and
choose any or all.

Fortuitously those good folk at Hatfield house have decided to hold a
Tudor Revel with jousting, archery and assorted antics on the Saturday.

So a programme is shaping up as follows :

afp-assemble at the gates of Hatfield House at about 10:45-10:50
Tudor Revel commences at 11:00
Cost of entrance UKP6.50 (children UKP3.00)

Hatfield House entrance is adjacent to Hatfield railway station
which is on the London (King's X) to Cambridge railway line.

It's a short distance from the main A1 London-Newcastle trunk road.
off the A414 eastward toward Hertford

After the event finishes, those who wish can take the train from
Hatfield station 17:27 arriving Cambridge 18:25

afp-assemble at the Mill at 19:30 for refreshment/possible evening punting

If weather fine afp-assemble at Quayside near St John's at
09:00 Sunday morning for more punting

A more detailed meet announce with directions and simplified ascii maps
is available at http://www.datko.demon.co.uk/hhpunt.htm
and suggestions about crash space (offerers please view)

Constructive comments from Cambridge/Hatfield resident afpers regarding
the maps and instructions are welcome !
